TRAINING TIDBITS

THE RIDE HOME

CREATING A "SAFE PLACE"

We want you to have the best experience with your new puppy.

Here are a few details we'd like to share with you to help your, and the puppies experience to be a smooth transition.

Remember, this is as new to you as it is to them.  They have been raised since birth to feed from their Momma as many as 5-6 times daily and be surrounded by their playful brothers and sisters.  We've done the hard part introducing them to a healthy fortified puppy food and also helping with your house training adventures.

We suggest introducing them to a kennel/cage which will always be their "safe place".   It may take a week or two to get them used to being in their safe place and realize it's not a bad thing, it's a comfort thing.

Your new puppy will only be locked in this safe place when you are either not at home or you are sleeping.  Other than that  the safe place can be filled with their favorite toys, blankets, towels, pillows and/or possibly a food and water bowl.

If someone came to your home, your sanctuary, and pulled you out, wouldn't you do your best to make sure it never happened again?  You need a "safe place" a sanctuary and so does your animal.  The size of this kennel/cage is all the space they will need in your entire home.  It is their space.

Never reach in to get them out of their safe place, always try persuasion with a friendly command or their favorite treat.

NUMBER ONE RULE

PUPPY TRAINING CLASSES ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

The key here is to have the puppy come to you EVERY TIME YOU CALL THEM.......100%.  If you plan on disciplining your new puppy, you go to them, never call them to you unless you are planning to praise them.

Teaching a puppy/dog to sit, lay, roll over, shake, speak, etc... is cute and fun, but the very most important, number one lesson to teach any puppy/dog is TO COME.   Never, never scold your puppy/dog when asked to come to you.  Always always us praise, praise and more praise.  Allow them to have a space where they feel safe and comfortable for years to come.

OUR CONTACT/FEEDBACK PAGE IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO REACH OUT WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS YOU MAY HAVE.  WE ARE HERE TO TRY AND HELP RESOLVE PROBLEMS & SUGGEST RESOLUTIONS, OR YOU CAN SIMPLY SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES WITH YOUR NEW PUPPY.
